It’s been two years since we discovered that Cowboy had keratoma cancer and signs of laminitis in his front hands. As I recall, this was a scary and uncertain time as we prepared for surgery, rehab, and recovery.
I had bought Cowboy knowing that he needed corrective shoeing and possibly had laminitis, but it had been a hard several months of finding a farrier that appreciated this and wanted to make it right. Thankfully, a family friend suggested I get radiographs made, even though I was doubtful anything good could come from it, I went along anyway.
Looking back it was one of the best things to have gone through. During the next year, I met some of my favorite people and got to go on amazing trips and journeys.
Last week I took Cowboy to get some updated X-Rays to see how things have been going. This was at the advice of my farrier who wanted to see if there were any changes we should be aware of to make adjustments.
To our delight, we have seen a complete turnaround of Cowboy’s hooves and this is because of so many people at MS State, Juan, and Chris. Without these people, I don’t think this update would be so easy to write.
