This was one of the funnest events I’ve ever been to. We were surrounded by people who loved their horses and all things equine and rodeo. I have spent the last few weeks trying to summarize the experience and have been unable to find the right words.
I captured most of the event with my camera and edited a video to try and share the relaxing trails rides, the exciting horse working events, and the amazing fellowship with new friends.
We camped in a massive field and watched as groups of riders would warm their horses up and ride to the main pavilion for breakfast and supper.
This was my favorite aspect of camping on any vacation I’ve been on. Though it started out with lots of stress, this was the first time I’ve taken the horses overnight (and made many stories to tell 😅), it quickly turned around and it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
The first day we rode a few miles and moved the cattle back to the place we were camping. It was a 12 mile ride, the longest I’ve ever done and twice as far as I thought it would be.
We stopped for lunch and the horses were exhausted and I couldn’t help but think of Little Blackie in True Grit while Minka made the trek back home for the night.
To my surprise and delight Minka had so much energy and she has such a spirit about her to do and keep going. I had planned on bringing Cowboy on this trip but I’m so glad it worked out for her to come.
All in all. This is an amazing experience that if you’ve on the fence about going; you need to make it happen and go. We were already making plans for next year before we got fully loaded up to head home.
