Tonight was a pretty exciting first time leading Phoenix! After a long day of meetings and errands I was particularly interested in spending some time in the barn with Minka and Phoenix.
On a wild hair, and in spite of being in the middle of thunderstorms and wind gusts, I decided to try teaching Phoenix the basics of leading. To my delight she was naturally inclined to following me and didn’t hesitate to cross her back legs when I asked her to move.
She is great fun to work with and calms down quickly when spooked. Even though her whole body jumps and all four feet leave the ground when startled, she immediately relaxes and approaches to let me rub her head, which I think is a great thing.
This is the beginning of a lot of fun!
